Greetings,

Just a friendly reminder about Matt Schoch's new CD - Breaking Ground:

Art by Kenneth Benson

Matt joins the NXNW family with a fantastic new album.  Think great songwriting in the bluegrass, Americana, and/or folk vein.  Think No Depression with a little less depression. Matt's songs can make you laugh, smile, and/or cry.  His voice could melt your heart.

Breaking Ground is NXNW 16.  It will be available through Matt, us and at his PDX record release show on Saturday at Reed College in the student union.  9 to 11 pm.  All ages!

Links: here and here.

CD's are expected to arrive any minute now, so as soon as we have them and Matt's approval we'll get them up for online purchase.  Thanks, NXNW

Callow joins the NXNW family...

Hey y'all.  A quick note about our friends Callow: their first full length CD (NXNW 11) will be soon be available through the band and us.  Here is the cover art:

You can find more information about the band here.  They hail from the Bay Area in California.

Callow will be playing the NXNW Records release parties on April 6/7 in Portland, OR.

Here is what folks have said about Callow: A commanding amalgam of ambient indie art rock, driven by emotive vocals, haunting atmospheres, and gritty, poignant guitar.  Red's raw contralto is reminiscent of Vic Chestnut while Sami creates a dark, primordial landscape with the simultaneous use of keyboard and percussion.

We feel very lucky to have Callow as part of the NXNW family.

Liz Snyder & Julie Karr

Hello All,

We've got big plans this year.  First off, we'd like to introduce you to the music of Liz Snyder and Julie Karr, both talented singer-songwriters.

Liz is born and raised Juneau, Alaskan.  Julie currently resides in Richmond, VA.  We are including some of their songs on a 4 way split cassette with Callow and Gun Room Melodies.

Liz' EP is NXNW 10 and the tunes can be found here.  We hope to hear more music from Liz soon, both recorded and otherwise.

Julie's songs can be found here.  Definitely check out her live show if you get the chance.  Her voice is phenomenal.

As with all the music we release, it should be noted that a preferable method of consumption can be listening with wraparound headphones while laying down in the dark.  Just a suggestion.
